Powerball Numbers Frequency

The Powerball numbers frequency data will allow you to identify the most frequently drawn Powerball numbers as well as the least frequently drawn Powerball numbers. The data are presented both in tabular and bar chart forms in order to facilitate comparison of the results for each number.

Since Powerball has undergone different matrix changes, comparing the values of the total frequency of the numbers is misleading since high numbers, which are added at a later date, will obviously have been be drawn less number of times. In order to take care of this discrepancy, we have introduced a parameter called Relative Frequency.

The Relative Frequency is the percentage that indicates how a number's frequency is close to its expected frequency. Although it can theoretically have any value from zero up, actual values are in the neighborhood of 100. A Relative frequency value of 100 or close to 100 implies that the number is drawn the expected number of times. On the other hand, higher and lower values indicate most frequently drawn and least frequently drawn Powerball numbers, respectively. We have arbitrarily selected numbers with Relative Frequency beyond 5% range to be most and least frequently drawn.

The Relative Frequency is therefore a double-edged sword in that, besides indicating whether a number is drawn above or below its expectations, it also creates a level play-ground so that all the numbers can be compared for any number of draws irrespective of the matrix changes of the game.

This numbers frequency page allows you to choose between all draws or only current matrix draws. The data shown now are for All draws. To switch to the other, click the button below. Note that what we consider current matrix, for analysis purposes, are the last two matrices since the change made in the last matrix is not very significant compared to its predecessor.

Frequency of Regular Powerball Numbers for All Draws

The table on left below lists the frequency (Freq) and relative frequency (RF) for each Powerball main (regular) numbers (Num). Another table further below lists the same parameters for the extra ball numbers. The headings of both tables are placed both on top and bottom for a reason. Clicking on the top headings sorts the table in decreasing order by that value, while clicking on the bottom headings sorts in increasing order top to bottom. These alternative sorting methods should be especially useful for mobile devices which do not support scrolling.

For example, clicking on the top heading "Freq" places the least frequently drawn numbers at the top, and the most frequently drawn at the bottom. On the other hand, clicking on the bottom "Freq" places the most frequently drawn at the top, and the least frequently drawn at the bottom. In fact, you have to look at the "Num" column after any sorting.

So, for the 2208 draws (All draws), you should be able to see the following results:

The most frequently drawn Powerball regular numbers are: 26, 41, 22, 35, 16, etc.
The least frequently drawn Powerball regular numbers are: 57, 58, 56, 59, 54, etc.

The most frequently drawn Powerball regular numbers are: 59, 26, 41, 22, 20, etc.
The least frequently drawn Powerball regular numbers are: 25, 57, 33, 29, 37, etc.

The bar chart presents the data for visual comparison. You can toggle between the total and the relative frequencies using the button at the bottom. And, within the bar chart itself, you can arrange the results either by value or by number. The Relative Frequency chart identifies the most and least drawn numbers by color. Those numbers that have a value within 5% of the expected draws (Relative frequency of 95-105) are shown in black.

Frequency of Powerball Extra Ball Numbers for All Draws

For the extra ball numbers and for the 2208 draws (All draws), you should be able to see the following results:

The most frequently drawn Powerball Extra Ball numbers are: 6, 20, 2, 29, 26, etc.

The least frequently drawn Powerball Extra Ball numbers are: 7, 34, 4, 32, 30, etc.

And, with respect to the Relative Frequencies,

The most frequently drawn Powerball Extra Ball numbers are: 26, 20, 16, 35, 32, etc.

The least frequently drawn Powerball Extra Ball numbers are: 33, 25, 29, 21, 18, etc.
